Frequently Asked Questions

Will Maxicaps Void My Regulator Warranty?

No. Maxicaps do not change the form, fit, or function of any regulator, they are simply a protective cover.

More importantly, it is a violation of United States federal law for a manufacturer to require a consumer to purchase their protection products to maintain your warranty.

According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act:

"No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name."

What does this mean? Simply, a company cannot require consumers to purchase only their products to maintain warranty, nor can they void warranty based on a consumer's use of a competitor's product in conjunction with theirs.

Should I Remove the Vent Limiter?

No, let us explain. Inside the regulator is a rubber diaphragm has to be able to move up and down. One effect of this "vent" is that it allows atmospheric pressure to act on the top side of the diaphragm. If this diaphragm bursts, the gas forces the ball bearing in the vent limiter upwards to limit the amount of gas that escapes. Some people think it completely eliminates the gas from escaping, but that's not the case. In the event of a failure you'll still be able to smell the gas, but it shouldn't be coming out at a dangerous level.

Now, if you remove the vent limiter to either, creating a goose neck or install another product in place of the vent limiter you are actually removing this limiting feature and adding a risk of liability.

Maxicap is not produced by, or affiliated with, any regulator manufacturer. We are a small veteran owned company operating out of Minnesota.

Who Manufactures Maxicap?

Are Maxicaps Only for Outdoor Use?

No. Maxicaps should also be applied to regulators installed indoors to protect the regulator and vent limiter from bugs, dust, and other debris. See the Code References page for more info.
